Boss SD-1 Overdrive Pedal Mods
IndyGuitarist/Brian Wampler Modifications
Description - The stock Boss SD-1 has long been known as a good
all-around overdrive pedal. Not amazing, nothing ground breaking or
jaw-dropping, but decent. Most don't know that it is basically a modified
tubescreamer and probably one of the most copied overdrives in history -- in
fact, MANY boutique builders in the past have taken the easy way out and
just copied this circuit, made a few changes, and sold them for $200 or more!
For proof of this, we have even designed a modification to react and sound
exactly like a famous boutique pedal (see soundclips below). Though
we have soundclips of several here, we pride ourselves on creating custom
modifications that make our customers' jaws drop!

Examples of a few variations of our SD-1 modifications:
mod2.mp3
-more bottom end, more gain, louder volume, cleans up better (amp: fender hot
rod deville)
sd1_cuervo.mp3 -
warm and smooth, just like a good shot of tequila sd1_F*llclone
mod (Fulldrive 2 compared to the F*llclone mod) sd1_chocolate-mod.mp3 -
warm, rich, dark yet remarkably clear - great mod for bright amps. (amp:
v-series 50 watt) sd1_bluesMod_10-03.mp3 -
If you cross a bluesdriver with a tubescreamer, this is what you get! (amp:
peavey classic 50) sd1-ts-steroids.mp3 -
closer to ts808 specs except with more gain available (amp: fender hot rod
deville) sd1
'Mosfet' Mod.mp3 - beefier, bolder, louder, and meaner, this pedal
sounds best on a bright amp such as a vox or possibly fender twin/deluxe reverb.
(amp: v-series 50 watt)
"Special"
mod - developed for my own personal use, meant to fatten up a vox ac-50
for tons of dirt!
Fuzz
mod - What happens when you want a monster fuzz but want it in an
overdrive? THIS happens!
We offer several different ways to get this
modification.
* You can purchase a brand new pre-modified pedal,
* You can send in your pedal to our shop and we'll do a custom
modification for your, or
* You can purchase a "DIY"
kit and do the work yourself, saving yourself money.
